FAQs – Festival Tours in Bhutan

Tshechu means “tenth day” in Dzongkha (Bhutan’s language). These festivals are held on the 10th day of a lunar month to honor Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava). They feature masked Cham dances, blessings, rituals, and vibrant community celebrations.

Some of the most famous festivals (tshechus) include:

Festivals are celebrated throughout the year, but the spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) seasons offer pleasant weather and many major events. You can choose a festival based on your preferred travel dates.

At least 6–8 months in advance is recommended, especially for Paro and Thimphu Tshechu. Flights and hotels fill up quickly during these peak times.

Yes, photography is allowed in most outdoor areas. However, photography inside temples or during certain sacred rituals may be restricted. Your guide will inform you when it’s appropriate to take photos.
