Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Paro – Bumdra Campsite (3,800m)

Your adventure begins with a short drive from Paro to the Sang Choekhor Buddhist College, where your hike starts. The trail ascends through forests rich in birdlife and mountain flora. Along the way, you’ll stop at sky burial sites and prayer flag-strewn ridges.

After about 3–4 hours of hiking, you’ll reach the Bumdra campsite, set just below the sacred Bumdra Monastery. The name “Bumdra” refers to the belief that a thousand angels descended here, blessing the area with powerful spiritual energy.

Enjoy a warm cup of tea, stunning views, and a peaceful evening at the fully equipped camp. Tents, sleeping gear, and meals are all provided, ensuring a comfortable wilderness experience.

Day 2: Bumdra – Tiger’s Nest – Paro

After breakfast and perhaps a short visit to Bumdra Monastery, you’ll begin your descent through thick pine forest and rugged trails. After 2–3 hours, you’ll emerge at a high vantage point above Taktsang Monastery, offering a view few travelers ever see.

Continue down to visit the iconic Tiger’s Nest, perched dramatically on a cliff at 3,120m, before hiking the final stretch to the valley floor, where your driver awaits.

Difficulty Level

  • Moderate to Challenging
  • Ideal for active travelers with good fitness
