EXCELLENT Based on 103 reviews Posted on Paulo M15 January 2026Verified Peaceful and unique Bhutan My experience was truly amazing from start to finish. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, kind and genuinely passionate about what they do! Our guide, Sonam was absolutely outstanding, she took the time to carefully explain each place we went to, sharing deep historical and cultural background in a way that was engaging and easy to understand. She never rushed us, always made sure we were comfortable, and answered every question with patience and enthusiasm. You could really feel how much she cared about making this experience meaningful for us. Thanks to Sonam, this tour was not just informative but truly memorable. I can’t recommend her and OMSHA highly enough.Posted on Joven F15 January 2026Verified Magical Tiger’s Nest The experience of hiking up the Tiger’s Nest was spiritual and breath-taking! It was our dream come true. Our guide, Sonam was very considerate with all our requests and needs. She is very knowledgeable of the touristy and local information that made our tour curated to our needs. We love her and our driver Takshi!Posted on Lian G14 January 2026Verified Omsha is the best! Had a wonderful trip organised by Omsha - Mr Na Wang responds very quickly and warmly to my inquiries, so I felt very welcomed even before the trip. I had the best combination of Sonam and Dashi, it was like traveling with friends! I learnt so much from them about Bhutan, but best of all they were attentive, thoughtful and made my trip such a memorable one. I miss them and Bhutan very much and will not hesitate to travel with Bhutan with them and Omsha again~ It's hard to put in words the magic of Bhutan, but traveling with Omsha is definitely the way to go.Posted on Trek5749383724624 December 2025Verified Great first glimpse of Bhutan! My dad and I travelled to Bhutan for the first time and I decided to go with OMSHA because of the very reasonable offer I received from Nawang. He was always prompt in replying to all our questions and very flexible in accommodating all our requests in changing the itinerary to fit our needs. Our Guide was Ugyen Sonam and our driver was Tashi. They were both very friendly and professional. Sonam is very knowledgeable on the history and culture of Bhutan and Buddhism. Tashi is a great driver who always made us feel safe. We had a great time and can’t wait to go back to explore more :)Posted on Climber6221860820720 December 2025Verified Great experience Excellent tour. Sonam was a terrific guide and really enjoyed the knowledge he shared about the monasteries, Bhutan and Buddhist history. Tashi was an excellent driver, very reliable and professional, always ready to go in the a.m. morning and always on time. Both very kind and very gracious. Nawang the owner was very easy to deal with and very nice meeting in person.Posted on Ashna A17 December 2025Verified Smooth & Awesome I traveled to Bhutan with Omsha Travels, and it was truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we landed, every arrangement was perfectly taken care of. Our guide, Ngawang Loday, and driver, Ngawang Kinley, were extremely respectful, professional, and warm, making our journey smooth and genuinely enjoyable. They played a huge role in making the entire experience beautiful and stress-free.A special mention to the travel coordinator, Ngawang, who personally came to meet us, handed over thoughtful gifts, and ensured that everything was going seamlessly throughout the trip. The level of care and hospitality was exceptional. I would definitely recommend Omsha Travels to anyone planning a trip to Bhutan.Posted on Abhik B30 November 2025Verified Awesome Birding and Cultural Trip to Bhutan We did a 10 day trip in Bhutan with Omsha Travel. We covered the usual cultural sites of Paro, Thimpu and Punakha as well as other locations in Central Bhutan like Phobjikha, Trongsa and Yongkhola for birding activities. The overall booking process was very smooth and easy - Nawang was very responsive and provided itineraries and costs in a very transparent manner. The actual trip was quite flawless - Pema (birding guide) and Tashi (driver) met us at Paro airport and were with us throughout the trip. They made us feel at home right from the start and shared a lot of information and tips about Bhutan throughout the trip. Pema was very knowledgeable about the local bird species and his experience was vital in seeing 100+ bird species, most of which were completely new to me. Bhutan does not have dedicated bird sanctuaries or birding trails/hides - so, most of the birding is done along the highways and local roads - Pema knew exactly where to stop for a specific type of birds.Tashi was a very steady driver all through out (and we had quite a few long driving days) - always ready with a smile and infectious enthusiasm. Overall, it was a beautiful experience in a beautiful country - probably one of the last untouched Himalayan lands. Hopefully, will come back for another trip in spring, when the birds are said to be even more active.Posted on Mak D28 November 2025Verified Amazing trip to Bhutan with OMSHA Travel I had a wonderful trip to Bhutan with this agency. My guide Namgay was fantastic – she is very kind, knowledgeable and always helpful. Our driver Tashi was very safe and professional, and I felt comfortable the whole time.I highly recommend this company, especially guide Namgay and driver Tashi.Posted on Håkan E27 November 2025Verified Couldn't be better! We, me and ny wife, had a five night/six day tour with OMSHA travel. It was designed according to our preferences. Nawang, the owner, was very professinal, attentive, kind and quick! Even during the jouney he was very observant that we had a good time. He came to a hotel one evening just to hear how we were doing. Our guide, Sonam, was extremely nice, but he also had a lot of knowledge about both budhism and Bhutan. He also shared experiences from his own life, which made our experience of Bhutan and the butanese life much more vivid. He was also observant and made changes in our itenerary according to our preferences. I'm sure he must be the best guide you can get! Our driver, Nawang (same name as the owner), was both a safe driver and a very kind and caring person. Sonam and Nawang were a perfect team! When we slould leave Bhutan at the bordercrossing in Phuentsholing, they both followed us all the way trough the immigration process and made sure that we found our driver on the Indian side. I can truly recommend OMSHA travel, they couln't have done better!Posted on mankAthens_Greece17 November 2025Verified Excellent and authentic experience to Bhutan We have traveled with OMSHA Travel from 2 till 10 of November to Bhutan. The experience was unique and really authentic and we totally loved this country. The tour was perfectly organized by Nawang. The hotels, the transfers, everything was high standard. I think that the cost for value is the best in Bhutan, without reducing the quality of services. We did some things off the beaten track and it was an awesome experience. Our guide Sonam and driver Namgay were really awesome, very polite, helpful and mostly perfect at their job. I think we have some friends now there. I totally recommend the OMSHA Travel 👏

There’s so much to do and see here! In this travel blog, we’ll dive into some must-visit places like the magnificent Punakha Dzong, the thrilling Suspension Bridge, the peaceful Chimmi Lhakhang, the stunning Khamsum Yulley Namgyel hike, and of course, the awesome river rafting adventures! Plus, we’ll share some handy tips on when to visit and essential travel advice to make your trip even better.
1. Punakha Dzong: The "Palace of Happiness"
Your journey to Punakha wouldn’t be complete without checking out the stunning Punakha Dzong, which many consider one of Bhutan’s most beautiful dzongs! Built back in 1637 by the amazing Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the founder of Bhutan, this architectural gem is nestled at the meeting point of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers.
As you step inside the dzong, you’ll be welcomed by intricately carved wooden doors, vibrant frescoes, and stunning whitewashed walls that sparkle in the sunlight. This place is not just an important administrative hub, but also a serene monastic complex. Be sure to wander through the breathtaking courtyards and temples, where you can discover the rich history and essence of this sacred site!
2. The Punakha Suspension Bridge: A Thrilling Walk
If you’re looking for a fun little adventure, the Punakha Suspension Bridge is an absolute must-see! Stretching around 160 meters, it’s one of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan, and it’s got some amazing views of the gorgeous valleys and the Pho Chhu River down below.
Walking across this bridge is such a thrilling experience—you can really feel it sway gently under your feet! Plus, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the nearby mountains and the bright greenery of the Punakha Valley. Don’t forget to pack your camera; this place is just begging to be photographed!
3. Chimmi Lhakhang: The Temple of Fertility
Just a delightful hike from Punakha, Chimmi Lhakhang is a charming little temple dedicated to the Divine Madman, Drukpa Kunley, who is celebrated for his quirky teachings and lighthearted take on Buddhism. This temple is particularly famous for its connection to fertility; couples hoping for blessings to grow their families often make a visit here.
The trek to Chimmi Lhakhang is a lovely 30-minute stroll through beautiful rice fields, giving you a peek into the everyday lives of the friendly locals. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a serene atmosphere where you can take part in rituals or simply enjoy the peaceful vibes around you. And don’t miss the chance to check out the many phallus symbols scattered around the temple, showcasing the unique cultural beliefs that make Bhutan so special.
4. Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Hike: A Nature Lover’s Paradise
If you’re an outdoor lover, you’ll absolutely adore the Khamsum Yulley Namgyel hike! It’s a wonderful way to soak in the beautiful scenery of Punakha. This relatively easy hike takes you through calm landscapes, lush greenery, and terraced fields before leading up to the breathtaking Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten.
The chorten, sitting atop a hill, provides stunning panoramic views of the Punakha Valley and the majestic Himalayas in the background. This beautiful structure is crafted with intricate designs and adorned with colorful paintings that showcase various Buddhist deities and teachings. Take a moment here to relish the serene atmosphere and the awe-inspiring views, making it an ideal spot for some peaceful reflection and meditation.
5. Thrilling River Rafting Adventures
For those seeking an adrenaline rush, river rafting on the Pho Chhu River is an unforgettable experience. The river offers a range of rapids, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced rafters. Guided tours are available, providing all the necessary equipment and safety instructions.
As you paddle through the stunning landscapes, you’ll be surrounded by lush greenery, towering cliffs, and, occasionally, glimpses of local wildlife. The thrill of navigating the rapids combined with the serene beauty of the valley makes this an exhilarating adventure you won’t want to miss.
Travel Tips for Visiting Punakha
- Dress Modestly: As a predominantly Buddhist country, Bhutanese culture emphasizes modesty. Wear respectful clothing, especially when visiting religious sites.
- Stay Hydrated: Carry a refillable water bottle and stay hydrated, especially when hiking. The elevation and physical activity can dehydrate you quickly.
- Respect Local Customs: Be mindful of local customs and traditions. Always ask before taking photos of people or sacred sites.
- Plan Ahead: If you’re interested in river rafting or other adventure activities, it’s best to book in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons.
As you plan your journey to Bhutan, make sure to include Punakha on your itinerary. Its unique charm and the warmth of its people will leave an indelible mark on your heart, making it a destination you’ll cherish for years to come. Happy travels!
