EXCELLENT Based on 138 reviews Posted on Lucy H8 May 2026Verified OMSHA was the best!!! We had the most fabulous time with our guide Sonam and driver Tashi! We were busy with several experiences every day, and had nice comfortable lodging every night. I loved our opportunities to see how paper is made, rice is roasted, mandelas are drawn with such minute perfect brush strokes, and overall how Bhutanese people live. This trip was full of learning. I especially loved how Gross National Happiness informs all things in Bhutan. I highly recommend OMSHA for travel in Bhutan! Posted on Barbara A3 May 2026Verified Best Bhutan Trip Omsha Travel is a terrific operator in Bhutan. I was well cared for and the driving was excellent. Even on hairy muddy roads I had full confidence in the driver. My guide was always there to explain and teach and share. Also held my hand on tough Tigers Nest steps. And hats off to the owner for flexibility on arranging before and during the trip.Posted on JMAndré3 May 2026Verified Unforgettable experience Excellent feelings and memories with OMSHA travel and my guide Sonam Dorji, and driver Tashi, all along the tour. Bhutan, the mystical kingdom of the Thunder Dragon, is renowned for its towering mountains, serene monasteries, and a spirit that intertwines tradition with adventure. Among its many adrenaline-fueled events, few capture the raw grit of endurance and the beauty of Himalayan landscapes quite like the Dragon’s Fury Mountain Bike Race.
This exhilarating race is often described as the “smaller sibling” of the legendary Tour of the Dragon (ToD)—but make no mistake, the Dragon’s Fury is an odyssey of its own. Riders face relentless climbs, altitude challenges, and high-speed descents, all while being surrounded by Bhutan’s pristine natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Happening Now
We are delighted to bring back the 70km Dragon’s Fury mountain bike race! The 6th edition is happening now. The racers started from Bajo Town, Wangduephodrang and finish at the Clock Tower, Thimphu.
A total of 81 participants are taking part.
It is a mini race as part of the amazing, one-day Tour of the Dragon (ToD) Mountain Bike Race, probably the world’s toughest. The 11th ToD edition will be back next year and we would love to see you join us.

The Route – From Valleys to Mountain Passes
The 70-kilometer route begins in Bajo Town, Wangduephodrang (alt. 1,400 m), winding its way past rural villages, forested slopes, and crisp Himalayan air. Riders then face a dramatic climb toward Dochula Pass (3,150 m), where prayer flags flutter in the wind and snow-capped peaks crown the horizon.
From Dochula, a thrilling descent leads competitors to Bhutan’s bustling capital, Thimphu, with the finish line at the iconic Clock Tower Square.
Why It Matters
The Dragon’s Fury was first launched in 2015 to honor the 60th birth anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. Since then, it has become a marquee event for local and international cyclists alike. While not as punishing as the 268 km Tour of the Dragon, this “mini race” is an ideal challenge for riders eager to test their stamina against Bhutan’s rugged terrain.
Riders & Atmosphere
This year’s edition has brought together 81 cyclists—a mix of Bhutanese riders and international participants—all united by the thrill of adventure and the spirit of competition. The race atmosphere is electric: cheering locals line the streets, vibrant prayer flags wave from rooftops, and the finish at Thimphu transforms into a celebration of courage and endurance.
Looking Ahead
The Dragon’s Fury is more than a race; it is a celebration of Bhutan’s resilience, landscapes, and athletic passion. For many, it is also a stepping stone toward the Tour of the Dragon, regarded as one of the toughest one-day mountain bike races in the world. With the 11th edition of ToD returning next year, excitement is already building among adventure seekers across the globe.
Final Thoughts
Conquering the Dragon’s Fury is no small feat. It is a test of physical grit, mental stamina, and spiritual calm—much like Bhutan itself, a land where challenge and serenity coexist in harmony. Whether you’re an athlete eyeing your next epic ride or a traveler seeking unique experiences, Bhutan’s mountain bike races offer an adventure unlike anywhere else on earth.
