EXCELLENT Based on 150 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Jorg H12 July 2026Verified perfect days in Bhutan We were so lucky to have Sonam as our guide for our 8 day tour of Bhutan. Everything along the way was perfect and we had no difficulties at all. Sonam was friendly, funny and entertaining, but what really blew us away was her knowledge of the history of Bhutan and Buddhism and her ability to tell the stories and legends of the various characters in Buddhism that we encountered. He knowledge really helped to enhance our enjoyment of Bhutan as well as our other travels into Tibet and China. I also want to mention our driver Nawang. He was a very calm and careful driver and we appreciated his driving over some challenging roads. We never felt scared or nervous and he never lost his cool, or became frustrated with other drivers. Overall, our guide and driver team made our trip to Bhutan easy, educational, fun, interesting, safe and fantastic!! The tour itself was well thought out, customized according to our interests, competitively priced and communication with Ngawang (not sure about spelling) the owner was very timely and clear.Posted on Tripadvisor Rita D3 July 2026Verified Excellent Price to Value Tour Fabulous Tour! We appreciated that OMSHA was responsive from inquiry to final booking. Price to value was excellent. We liked the selected itinerary and appreciated that we could make changes as needed. Our guides Sonam and Tashi were knowledgeable and professional and we had great conversations. It felt more like traveling with friends than with a tour. I would highly recommend OMSHA. You won't be disappointed!Posted on Tripadvisor Michael S16 June 2026Verified Hassle free and flexible Communication was quick and clear from the start. Personable. Individualized itineraries but hassle free. Flexible. Tour guide was great at adjusting plans to better fit my style as the trip progressed. Undoubtedly the way to go. No regrets!Posted on Tripadvisor rayaro15 June 2026Verified Marvelous Bhutan We had a group of friends and family on 7 days tour of Western Bhutan. Level of service provided by OMSHA travel was unmatched in many areas. From the pick up at the airport, Sonam and Ganesh kept our exploration of Bhutan flawless. Our requests to visit specific areas and activities were accommodated. We spent a night in a homestay in Gasa, visited hot springs, had a lovely riverside birthday picnic and attended Folklore Show that was a highlight of our trip. Nawang handled all communications and financial details thoroughly and transparently.Posted on Tripadvisor Wander340623001438 June 2026Verified Amazing Bhutan We traveled to Bhutan in June 2026, and Omsha Travels made our holiday a truly wonderful experience. She was flexible and adjusted our itinerary to avoid crowds, which made the experience more enjoyable. Sonam knows the sites well and shared many interesting stories. It was great to learn about Bhutanese culture both visually and through conversation. The driver was also a very friendly and cheerful person, which added to the pleasant journey 😊.

How Many Days Do I Need in Bhutan?
There is no single answer to how many days you need in Bhutan. The ideal length depends on what you want to see, how much time you have and how relaxed you want your journey to be.
For a first visit, 5–7 days is enough to experience the main highlights, while 10–14 days gives you more time to explore beyond the classic route and enjoy Bhutan at a slower pace.
5 Days — Bhutan Highlights
Best for: First-time visitors with limited vacation time.
A 5-day trip is a good introduction to Bhutan and can include the country’s most popular highlights:
- Paro
- Tiger’s Nest
- Thimphu
- Punakha
- Major cultural and scenic attractions
This option is ideal if you want to experience the essentials of Bhutan without taking a long holiday.
Recommended for: Couples, solo travelers and travelers combining Bhutan with another destination.
7 Days — A More Relaxed Bhutan Experience
Best for: First-time visitors who want more time to explore.
With 7 days, you can cover the main highlights at a more comfortable pace and potentially add:
- Phobjikha Valley
- Additional monasteries and villages
- Local cultural experiences
- Short hikes
- More time in Paro, Thimphu or Punakha
A 7-day trip is often a very good balance between sightseeing and relaxation.
Recommended for: Couples, families, senior travelers and travelers who don’t want to rush.
10 Days — Explore More of Bhutan
Best for: Travelers who want to go beyond the classic Bhutan itinerary.
Ten days gives you considerably more flexibility. Depending on your interests, you can explore destinations such as:
- Paro
- Thimphu
- Punakha
- Phobjikha
- Bumthang
- Additional cultural sites
- Villages and local communities
- Hiking and nature experiences
You can also slow down the itinerary rather than spending every day traveling from one destination to another.
Recommended for: Culture enthusiasts, photographers, hikers, nature lovers and travelers seeking deeper experiences.
14 Days — A Deeper Bhutan Journey
Best for: Travelers who want to explore Bhutan extensively.
With two weeks, you can go well beyond the standard tourist route and spend more time experiencing Bhutan’s different regions and landscapes.
Depending on the season and your interests, a 14-day itinerary could include:
- Western Bhutan
- Central Bhutan
- Bumthang
- Phobjikha
- More remote villages
- Longer hikes
- Cultural experiences
- Local festivals
- Farm and homestay experiences
- Wellness and traditional experiences
Rather than simply adding more destinations, the advantage of 14 days is that you can travel at a much more relaxed pace.
Which Bhutan Trip Is Right for You?
| Trip length | Best for | What you can expect |
|---|---|---|
| 5 Days | Short holiday | Bhutan’s major highlights |
| 7 Days | First-time visitors | Highlights + more relaxed pace |
| 10 Days | Deeper exploration | More destinations and experiences |
| 14 Days | Extensive journey | Regional exploration and immersive travel |
Our recommendation
If you have limited time: Choose 5 days.
If this is your first Bhutan trip: Choose 7 days.
If you want culture, nature and a slower pace: Choose 10 days.
If you want to explore beyond the usual tourist route: Choose 14 days.
You Don’t Have to Decide the Number of Days Alone
The right number of days also depends on your arrival and departure flights.
For example, if your flight arrives late in Paro and departs early in the morning, the actual sightseeing time may be less than the number of nights suggests.
That’s why we recommend planning your itinerary around your flight schedule, interests and preferred pace, rather than simply choosing a number of days.
At OMSHA Travel, we create private Bhutan itineraries around your available time. Whether you have 5, 7, 10 or 14 days, we can recommend what is realistic to see and arrange your visa, SDF, hotels, guide, private transportation and itinerary.
