EXCELLENT Based on 138 reviews Posted on Lucy H8 May 2026Verified OMSHA was the best!!! We had the most fabulous time with our guide Sonam and driver Tashi! We were busy with several experiences every day, and had nice comfortable lodging every night. I loved our opportunities to see how paper is made, rice is roasted, mandelas are drawn with such minute perfect brush strokes, and overall how Bhutanese people live. This trip was full of learning. I especially loved how Gross National Happiness informs all things in Bhutan. I highly recommend OMSHA for travel in Bhutan! Posted on Barbara A3 May 2026Verified Best Bhutan Trip Omsha Travel is a terrific operator in Bhutan. I was well cared for and the driving was excellent. Even on hairy muddy roads I had full confidence in the driver. My guide was always there to explain and teach and share. Also held my hand on tough Tigers Nest steps. And hats off to the owner for flexibility on arranging before and during the trip.Posted on JMAndrĂ©3 May 2026Verified Unforgettable experience Excellent feelings and memories with OMSHA travel and my guide Sonam Dorji, and driver Tashi, all along the tour. Best Options from the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Greece
If you’re planning an unforgettable trip to Bhutan from Europe, one of the first questions you’ll ask is: how do I get there? Since Bhutan’s only international airport is in Paro (PBH) and there are no direct flights from Europe, the journey requires a stopover—but it’s well worth it.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the best flight options from top European cities including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, Stockholm, Helsinki, Warsaw, Amsterdam, Zurich, and Athens — and show you how to connect through major Asian hubs like Delhi, Bangkok, Kathmandu, and now Dubai, to reach Paro, Bhutan’s only international airport.
Bhutan’s Only International Gateway: Paro Airport (PBH)
Paro International Airport is nestled between mountains and is one of the most scenic (and challenging) airports in the world. Only a few pilots are certified to land here, and only a few airlines fly into Bhutan:
- Druk Air (Royal Bhutan Airlines)
- Bhutan Airlines
These carriers operate from key Asian cities like Delhi, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Singapore, and Kolkata, and now Dubai — which serve as your connection points from Europe.
Step-by-Step: How to Get to Bhutan from Europe
Since you can’t fly directly to Bhutan, you’ll take a two-step journey:
- Fly from your European city to a major Asian hub or Middle Eastern hub (e.g. Bangkok, Delhi, Kathmandu & Dubai).
- Connect to Paro via Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines.
Let’s explore the best routes from each European country
Best Flight Routes to Bhutan from Europe
- 🇬🇧 United Kingdom (London):
Connect via Delhi, Bangkok, Kathmandu, or Dubai.
Direct Dubai–Paro flight makes travel smoother. - 🇫🇷 France (Paris):
Fly via Bangkok, Delhi, or Dubai.
Multiple airlines offer easy access to these hubs. - 🇩🇪 Germany (Frankfurt / Munich):
Best connections through Delhi, Bangkok, or Dubai.
Strong flight network from Frankfurt. - 🇮🇹 Italy (Rome / Milan):
Route through Doha, Delhi, or Dubai.
Doha and Dubai are excellent for fewer layovers. - 🇸🇪 Sweden (Stockholm):
Options via Doha, Bangkok, or Dubai.
Direct to Dubai makes a great one-stop route to Paro. - 🇫🇮 Finland (Helsinki):
Fly via Doha, Delhi, or Dubai.
Finnair, Turkish, and Qatar Airways serve these hubs. - 🇵🇱 Poland (Warsaw):
Connect through Doha, Istanbul, or Dubai.
Dubai offers a simpler, one-stop option to Paro. - 🇳🇱 Netherlands (Amsterdam):
Fly via Delhi, Bangkok, or Dubai.
KLM, Air India, and Emirates offer convenient routes. - 🇨🇠Switzerland (Zurich / Geneva):
Best via Delhi or Dubai.
Zurich has more direct options than Geneva. - 🇬🇷 Greece (Athens):
Routes via Istanbul, Doha, or Dubai.
Dubai is ideal for fewer connections.
New & Direct: Dubai to Paro Flights
As of 2025, travellers can now fly directly from Dubai to Paro twice a week — a major time-saver for European tourists.
🔹 Why fly via Dubai?
- Major European cities have frequent, direct flights to Dubai
- Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines now operate non-stop flights to Paro from Dubai
- Cuts down on multi-city stopovers (especially helpful for shorter trips)
Best Asian Cities to Connect To Bhutan

Pro Tips for Booking Flights to Bhutan
- Book Bhutan leg early: Flights into Paro are limited and fill up quickly, especially during peak seasons (spring and autumn).
- Plan buffer days: Weather in Paro can delay flights. Build in a buffer day in your itinerary.
- Visa: Book through an approved tour operator to secure your Bhutan visa and itinerary.
- Airline websites: Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines often don’t appear on third-party booking sites—check their official websites directly or book via your Bhutanese tour operator.
In Summary
Flying to Bhutan from Europe isn’t direct, but it’s more straightforward than it might seem. The best strategy is to:
- Fly from your European city to a major hub in South or Southeast Asia,
- Then connect to Bhutan via Druk Air or Bhutan Airlines.
Whether you’re flying from London, Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, Stockholm, Helsinki, Warsaw, Amsterdam, Zurich, or Athens, Bhutan is within reach—and the journey is part of the adventure.
